VIP MEETING ROOM
IWATE JAPAN

TEXTILE : ORIGINAL GRADATION PRINT
In a place known for its beautiful mountain ranges and basin, a factory building for manufacturing precision equipment and a common atrium for local residents, subcontractors and visitors. Van Hongo designed three textile installations, textile columns, VIP meeting rooms' curtains and textile decoration all along the ceiling of the aisles to the factory.
The textile columns are installed under the iron beams. The architect wanted to attach some fabrics there not to be walked though by people as the height is a bit less than 2meter. By using the strong magnet, columns are installed without an extra heavy construction work.
Ceiling textiles, they are installed every 5 meter along with 6 aisles that have 300 meter length. The passageway is designed to allow natural air circulation, so the fabrics gently flutters in the wind.
VIP meeting rooms' curtain feature a gradient that overlaps with the majestic mountain ranges visible from the windows..
